Rods are sold per gram because diameters of rods (especially hand-pulled ones) vary considerably. To assist with ordering, here is some information about the length and approximate weight of a few different diameters:

1 Rod of 35.2 cm x 5mmØ weighs 19g
Price at 16,6c/gram = R3.15

1 Rod of 35.2 cm x 6mmØ weighs 23g
Price at 16,6c/gram = R3.68

1 Rod of 35.2 cm x 7mmØ weighs 29g
Price at 16,6c/gram = R4.81
